This website is operated by Heritage Platform Group, Inc. (“Heritage,” “we,” or “us”). By using the site, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Who may use the site

You may use the site if you are at least 18 and able to enter a binding agreement. If you use it for a company, you confirm you have authority to accept these terms on its behalf.

What this site is

The site tells you about Heritage and our work. It offers free materials, such as articles and printable worksheets, and it lets you contact us, ask for a conversation, or apply for a role. Nothing can be bought or enrolled in on this site. If we take you on as a client, that work is governed by a separate written agreement.

Our materials help you prepare. They are not advice.

Our articles and worksheets are general information, written to educate. They may not fit your situation, and they may be incomplete. Reading them or using a worksheet does not create an advisory, brokerage, fiduciary, or client relationship with us, and you are responsible for any decision you make.

If we are ever interested in buying your business

Heritage advises owners and also buys businesses, so we hold ourselves to a standing rule: we do not advise an owner on a business while trying to buy that same business. If we become interested in buying a business we are advising, we stop advising on that business and tell the owner plainly. Any purchase discussion then starts fresh, as a separate process, and we recommend you take your own independent legal and financial advice first. Nothing on this site obliges you to sell to us, or us to buy.

Nothing here is professional advice

Our articles and tools are general education. Paid Advisory, under a separate written agreement, is advice on your business. It is not legal, tax, investment or accounting advice.

Nothing on this site is investment, legal, tax, or accounting advice, and nothing here, including our Ventures page, is an offer of investment, financing or an ownership stake, or an offer or solicitation to buy or sell any security or business. Speak with your own qualified advisors before you act. If we take you on as a client, that work is governed by a separate written agreement, not by this site.

Our intellectual property

The site, the Heritage name and marks, and the articles, worksheets, and other materials on it belong to Heritage or our licensors, and are protected by law. You may view, download and print our materials, and make copies of them for use inside your own business. You may not sell, rent, republish or redistribute them outside your business, present them or our name and marks as your own, or suggest that we endorse you or your work, without our written permission.

Feedback

If you send us suggestions about this website or our published materials, we may use them to improve our work, without any obligation to you. This permission does not cover anything you tell us about your own business, including an inquiry, information for The Read or an advisory engagement, a role application, or information about a possible acquisition, and it does not override any confidentiality or other written agreement.

Acceptable use

Use the site lawfully and in good faith. You agree not to: access it by automated means such as scraping or bots; probe, scan, or test its security; reverse engineer or copy how it works; interfere with or disrupt it; impersonate anyone or misrepresent your affiliation; or use it to send or store anything unlawful, infringing, or harmful. We may suspend access that breaks these rules.

Third-party links and services

The site links to websites and services run by others. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, practices or availability, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies. The service providers we use to run the site and our work are described in our Privacy Policy, and nothing in this section limits what that policy says about how we handle your information.

Copyright complaints

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe material on the site infringes your copyright, email us at info@heritageplatformgroup.com with enough detail to identify the work and the material, and we will review it.

No warranties

The site and its materials are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error free, or that its materials will be accurate or suitable for your situation.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Heritage, its owners, and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost opportunities, arising from your use of the site or its materials, even if the possibility of such damages was known. Some places do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to cover our reasonable losses if they arise from your misuse of the site, your breach of these terms, or your violation of the law or the rights of others.

Termination

You may stop using the site at any time. We may suspend or end your access to the site if you breach these terms or the law, or to protect the site or its users. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification, survive the end of your access.

The rest of the fine print
